We cannot achieve our goals of protecting animals from danger, abuse and neglect alone. Therefore, we often work with other groups to achieve victories on behalf of animals. UAN is currently part of the following collaborative efforts:
This state government program, administered by the California Department of Food and Agriculture, was created to work with the Office of Emergency Services to coordinate responses to animal welfare requests.
Homes for Horses Coalition
The Homes for Horses Coalition is dedicated to ending horse slaughter and other forms of equine abuse while promoting growth, collaboration and professionalism in the equine rescue and protection community. UAN is a founding member and on the steering committee.
Comprised of American Humane Association; Animalearn, a division of the American Anti-Vivisection Society; Association of Professional Humane Educators; Humane Society Youth, a division of The Humane Society of the United States; United Animal Nations and World Society for the Protection of Animals.
National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition
UAN is a founding member of this coalition of organizations dedicated to improving collaboration and standards in animal emergency response.
This annual forum of national humane movement leaders was established by UAN founder Belton Mouras in 1985. The mission of NCAP is to help its members achieve individual and collective goals to improve the treatment and status of all animals.
This coalition of government agencies and animal groups responds to disasters affecting animals and educates the public and municipal agencies about the need for animal disaster preparedness. UAN and its Emergency Animal Rescue Service (EARS) volunteers are also members and active leaders of other state SARTs, such as in Florida, Louisiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Pet Tech
UAN recommends Pet Tech as an excellent source of training for pet first aid and CPR. Pet Tech founder Thom Somes, "The Pet Safety Guy," has personally taught pet CPR and first aid to more than 15,000 people across North America. In 2007, Somes kicked off the yearlong Million Petizen Rally to promote his new book, Knowing Your Pet's Health: A Guide for Optimal Wellness from Snout to Tail. The goal of the Million Petizen Rally is to raise $1 million to be divided among four animal charities, including UAN.

Benefits of the human-animal bond
In 2005, UAN partnered with the founder of this online database of animal cruelty cases to better identify situations in which our Zig Zag Memorial Reward Fund for Animal Cruelty could help lead to an arrest and conviction.
WSPA works with more than 600 Member Societies in 130 countries, including UAN, to promote animal welfare and improved protection of animals.
